Prince Paul, in the nest of corruption
Most hip hop heads will recognize the name, and know who I’m talking about. But for those of you who don’t let me lay it down for you… Ever heard of Handsome Boy Modeling School? Well that was the duo of Prince Paul & Dan The Automator. Handsome Boy Modeling school is probably some of his better known work. Other than that though, you might know the legendary De La Soul album Three Feet High and Rising. It is there where Prince Paul made his name, and also introduced something completely new to hip hop… skits. Now you can hear skits on practically every new album. Recently, I have been listening to one of his under appreciated albums: A Prince Among Thieves. To big hip hop fans, this album is crucial to any collection. It is one of the best concept albums out there, telling the story of an aspiring MC, Tariq (Breezly Brewin), trying to get money and record a demo tape to give to RZA of Wu Tang fame. Guests appearances on the album include: Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Chris Rock, Special Ed, RZA, Buck Shot, and Biz Markie.
