Talib Kweli. Legendary. Black Star. Quality.
We all know who Talib Kweli is, and we all know he is a fantastic rapper. We also know that he has also been critiqued heavily for his sophomore solo album, The Beautiful Struggle. But now, Kweli has made a full turn-around. His newest album, Ear Drum released Tuesday is fantastic. The album features such an eclectic mash-up of artists as UGK, Norah Jones, Madlib, KRS-One, Justin Timberlake, will.i.am, and more. This album has more different sounds than any one album I have heard in a while, and it works very well.
I personally feel this album is the best released so far this year, as well as Kweli’s best work to date. It is meaningful, well produced, flows well from beginning to end, and Talib is on point.
