It’s Chromey… oh oh oh oh oh
That’s right, after about a week’s hiatus (sorry, I’m moving, and I’ve been mad stressed… some of my affiliates need to start shouldering the load a little better) I am giving mad props to my boys Chromeo. I dunno why, but right now I’m in a phase where I really like modern music that is constructed to sound like it came out of the 80s. I think I have a soft spot for it, being a big fan of 80s new wave music. Regardless, I have been listening to Chromeo’s Fancy Footwork lately. Its great. It has a total 80s vibe to it, complete with cheesy synths, cheesy melodies, cheesy lyric… basically this group is straight cheese (as evidenced by the name). But at the same time, they are actually very talented. Comprised of 2 members, Dave 1 and P-Thugg and hailing from Montreal (Dave happens to be A-trak’s older brother) Chromeo is on a self proclaimed mission to “make slick-ass lover’s funk with nary a trace of irony.”
Their music is just really fun, really danceable (hence the album name) and it takes me back to a better time (not that now-adays is a bad time, but still). Oh, and did I mention they’re repping fools gold? That always ups credibility. Check these boys out, they’re more fun than ” being forced to smoke crack at gunpoint by Rick James” (RIP).
