RUNE, DC, and some other news
So, as you may have noticed, we now have an artist page up and functioning for our homeboy Rune. This is exciting for everyone, but especially you, seeing as his mixtape, Rather Dashing, is now available for download, all in one convenient .zip file. Download it, bump it, enjoy it. This is what its here for. Doesn’t it seem like our family keeps on growing and growing? But its nice right? Well, keep eyes peeled, because we are currently in talks with a few more artists, and will most likely be diversifying our artist artilerty, but more on that later.
Right now, I gotta give major props to DC hip hop. (pumps fist in air) DC is the home of some great artists, many of whom go overlooked. First off, Asheru. You all probably know at least one song. “I am the stone that the builder refused…” sounds familiar right? The man responsible for the boondocks theme, and several other bangin’ songs, a DC cat.
Ink is my Drink. Or at least, it is Panacea’s, another of DCs local homeboys. The duo, composed of emcee Raw Poetic and producer K-Murdock are responsible for the highly acclaimed 2006 release Ink is my Drink. The album is great, really refreshing. And their newest release, The Scenic Route, has received nothing but praise. Definately check these dudes out.
Another duo! Wade Waters, comprised of SoulStice and Haysoos is a great combination of MCs. Their debut album, Dark Waters, got production from the likes of Kev Brown, and guest spots from cats like AZ. This is the true sound of DC, check them out for real. Als, get ready for the solo album by SoulStice, dropping October 2, Dead Letter Perfect.
Speaking of Kev Brown, gotta give him another shout, as well as the rest of his crew. Odissee, who is insanely talented behind the boards. Kenn Starr who’s debut album received NUMEROUS bumps on my system. The whole Low Budget Crew is insane, definately worth checking out.
And if I missed anyone, I’m sorry. Just be thankful I don’t live in New York, or the list would go on forever. But for real, home-town pride. DC born and raised, I love it. Keep holdin’ us down y’all!
VINYL MELTDOWN NEWS
OK, and more stuff… we got new email addresses! So now you can email any of the family members directly, whether to contract beats, ask for advice, or just shoot the shit, all the emails will be up on the site soon. Also, EOM, not wanting to go the same route of Common (drop the sense) has changed his name to… his name! Daniel Carey. He’s taking the Mike Jones approach, except with 10x the talent (hey that’s not a bad line… we should use that). That page will be updated promptly.
Also, like I said, we are in talks with several artists at the moment, but if you got talent, let us know! Send us a beat, a verse, a chorus, a rockin guitar solo… any format, any type of music. Heck, send us a drawing, painting, design, poem, photo, article, anything you want. Be creative, be you, be real. Anything you wanna show off send here:
hopefully you too can be a part of the family.
OK, so that was a lot, hopefully this tides you over for a minute. Keep it real,
