New segment! Good, Bad, Weird!
Here is a new bit I will be doing periodically on the site, most likely once a month probably at the beginning of the month. But, since I just thought of it, I thought I would drop it on here. The idea is 3 tracks. One good, one bad, and one weird, that can be either good or bad. Sometimes it will just be what I’ve been listening to lately, new or old, sometimes it will revolve around a theme, and sometimes, it might even get away from the format. But without any further ado, here is this month’s Good, Bad, Weird.
Good: Eat To Live - Talib Kweli
[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/5/739144/07%20Eat%20To%20Live.mp3]
Off of Talib’s fantastic album “Ear Drum,” this is his song about world hunger issues, as well as the issues of eating healthy food in America. One line in particular sums it up perfectly, “In Africa they starvin’ over here the food hurt you/ got cows goin’ mad, chickens catching bird flu.” Good song, good album.
Bad: Ms. Peachez - Fry that Chicken
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=rGrqW3nx5HM]
As unbearable to listen to as it is offensive and stupid. One of the worst song/video combinations to ever make its rounds on YouTube. I was so mad when I heard little kids singing this song. Its bad. Real bad.
Weird: Gotta Eat - Lupe Fiasco
[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/5/73914"4/13.%20Gotta%20Eat.mp3]
As tempted as I was to just list the entire MM… FOOD? album as the weird, I also have been listening to Lupe Fiasco’s “The Cool,” and love this track. How is this weird you ask? Its from the perspective of a cheeseburger. The beat is very nice, and the lyrics are crazy-good. “And he had a whole lot of seeds/ even his kids had meals, fa real/ some rich small-fries wrapped in paper since they were little/ Catch Up (Ketchup) n*gga!”
