Heads Up For Dance Fans

As summer progresses at whatever pace it chooses, and I continue on my seemingly endless search for new music I find myself whittling hours away on Last.FM. Most of the stuff I hear on there I’ve never heard before, and some of it I wish never to hear again. But that persistent little gray box has a habit of blowing my audio sensors to an elevated state of amusement. And every so often something hits me so hard I have to hit the stop button and go find the artist I’ve just heard through myspace, itunes, or whatever medium is present.

One such artist hails from Scotland, and performs under the moniker of Mylo. His album “Destroy Rock & Roll” backs its powerful titular command with some very worthy dance rhythms. The album is paced from mid to fast tempo throughout and has an underlying feeling of an electronic life that I can relate most closely to the works of Daedelus. Yet Mylo’s beats hit you with a completely different and infectious familiarity. Each song has this subtle energy to it that just gets my head bobbing, and if the mood strikes me, my feet taking an exuberant trip around the room with my body keeping toe with an exuberance of its own.

If you need somewhere to start I suggest you check out “Otto’s Journey”, the song that inspired me to seek out this stellar album, and let the music speak for itself.
