Mass Appeal with Autorock

Mass Appeal
I don’t know if you remember our last post about Vinyl Meltdown’s friend Autorock, but his last mixtape, Assquake was a straight banger. His newest endeavour, Mass Appeal follows up very strong. Its hard for me to say which is better, but I lean slightly towards the newest. The mix is 150 samples in 70 minutes. And its great. Here’s what the man himself has to say about the mix:

“Hey hey, though I still put in loads of recognizable songs on Mass Appeal, I wanted to throw in more left-field samples on it that aren’t usually associated with dance music. Also, I was really interested in getting a lot of layers of samples going, with everything in key. And like the first mix, I wanted to highlight the best moments of my live shows from the last few months. Ultimately, I just wanted to make it as fun as possible.”

Mission Accomplished. This mix is maximum fun, blending together unconventional samples in unexpected ways, when you least see it coming. Quite a marvel. The mix is named after Autorock’s monthly DC event, and it incorporates a lot of stuff he’s been performing at his live shows. The mix is currently a BYT (BrightestYoungThings.com) exclusive. But Autorock has given permission to link to the original download. And he also gave us a link to the video for his “single” Hot Stepper:

Anyways, definitely give this a listen. It surely gives GirlTalk’s newest endeavour, Feed the Animals, a run for its money.

peace,
