The Good, The Bad, The Weird II

You thought I forgot about my new segment didn’t you? Well I didn’t (for those of you who don’t know, I previously started a new “regular” segment). Well, I haven’t been keeping to regular, but I just got my fiber on, and am ready to drop a new load.

The Good:

N*E*R*D - Seeing Sounds

You have probably all heard the bizarrely addictive Everybody Nose. Its fun, upbeat, timely, and a great party tune with a responsible message. Overall, a killer track. Well, the same can be said about N*E*R*D’s new album (in my opinion their best work to date). I don’t want to spoil it all for you though, because In[di]visible should be dropping his review 2 days ago (hint hint). But definitely worth a purchase (yes, a purchase).

The Bad:

Portishead - Third

A little old, but Portishead’s latest endeavour is pretty bad. I love their previous work, but somehow, after 10 years, their sound has changed in a bad way. Granted, a lot of it might be my expectations after such a long hiatus, but still… the album fails to deliver. Even Beth Gibbons seems out of tune with her singing. I was pretty dissapointed… anyways, might be worth a listen to see how your opinion stacks up against mine.

The Weird:

Tyga - No Introduction

Admittedly, not that weird, but still… anyone who lil’ dwayne considers a protege, who delivers a pretty good album surprises me. What’s also weird on this album is the production. It has a definite southern feel, but it’s relatively sophisticated, and it at times sounds as though it was heavily influenced by 80s metal and New Wave. Pretty interesting, and Tyga’s not half bad. Don’t be fooled by the obnoxious single. Worth a download at least.

Anyways, don’t just take my word, get out there and listen to the music.

Peace,
-the judge
