Worst News Ever

Quoted from MTV.com

One is hip-hop’s king of collaborations. The other is his R&B equivalent. For once, you can believe the rumors: Lil Wayne and T-Pain indeed have plans to form a supergroup.

Weezy confirmed the report with a simple “Yeah” on Monday in Los Angeles, where he was filming his spot in Cassie’s new video “Official Girl” before he performed later in the day at a sold-out House of Blues.

Pain has been publicly hinting about the venture, but didn’t come right out and say Wayne’s name. Weezy said it’s true.

“We both have the same energy,” he said. “I don’t sleep. If you ask anybody, I don’t sleep. I think it’s the cousin of death. As much as you sleep, you’re impersonating death to me. He don’t sleep. I play all day. He plays all day and all night. The connection is crazy. He loves to be creative, he loves to work; I love to create, I love to work. He really wants people to respect his rapping; I really want people to respect my harmonizing.”

Yes, sadly, the two most obnoxious musicians of our day are collaborating on an entire album of bad music. I hope this falls through. Otherwise, you best get ready for a stream of hot garbage to be polluting our airwaves.

peace,

Now, I already know I’m going to sound like a groupie for this and I’m cool with that, but is there any denying that Lil’ Wayne and T-Pain are two of the best artists in their respective musical fields. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying either of them have anything of importance to say, but is there any denying that they have come out with hit after hit? Lil’ Wayne is undoubtedly one of the best mainstream rappers out right now and with good reason: He’s got mad passion. Honestly, he may be arrogant, doesn’t always makes sense, and interviews high as hell, but he works harder than any rapper out. It’s reasonable to be upset because he has saturated the market by being in every remix out this year, but only because of the popularity he gained from the mixtapes that earned him no profit. An analogy, if I may: Lil’ Wayne is the Kobe Bryant of rap. I strongly dislike Kobe Bryant, first claiming, he wasn’t that good, then that he was too cocky, then that he was a ball hog. But it comes down to the fact that I just don’t like him–for no good reason. Kobe puts in as much time at the gym as Lil Wayne does in the studio, he’s wanted by as many teams as Lil Wayne is wanted on features, and he’s compared to Jordan as much as Wayne is compared to Jay. But just accept it, he’s a talented rapper and one of the most creative M.C.s out. As a result, he gets away with some things that some might find garbage (”[Weezy] Phone Home”), but you can tell he enjoys making metaphors, unlike other rappers whose comparisons come out sounding forced and over-used. “You can call me Scrooge, cuz I’m swimming in bucks” “All my kicks fly like Liu Kang” “I’m bout to do it again like nigga backwards” “We be the shh**, like two s’s after h” In the fractions of time it takes me to understand a Lil’ Wayne metaphor, I first panic because I’m afraid it’s mindless doggerel, but afterwards I can’t help but laugh. Wayne has as much fun making his albums as I do listening, and its evident in his work. Kanye seems to be going in the opposite direction and is losing my respect as a rapper, artist, and individual.

As for T-Pain…he’s not the greatest singer, but when he stops making me dance, I’ll start hating. I think this collabo’s going to be hot as long as they don’t play out that vocoder any more.

    oh dayo…

first of all, i think its hilarious that you typed out “nigga” and bleeped out shit.

second of all… i don’t haate dwayne for no reason… he has an annoying voice, terrible delivery, and for as many money lines as he makes, he throws away 10. I just don’t see anything he’s done as being a worthwhile endeavor.

For T-Pain… he’s not a bad singer. But his stupid autotune is so played out. I refuse to respect him, because he relies on a technology anybody could use. And he has started an awful trend. Plus, out of all Dwaynes songs, the one he did with T-Pain is up there as one of the worst.

Man, you gotta respect Lil’ Wayne. “Lollipop” and “Got Money” aside, did you hear C3? It’s incredible.

And if you think T-Pain isn’t a really talented singer because anybody can use auto-tune, listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4NiI1A75uQ . T-Pain is good at what he does, although I don’t like most of his music. (Don’t even try to tell me you don’t like “Buy Me a Drank,” though.) Auto-tune is played out, but it’s not T-Pain’s fault that everyone is copying him because he had a good idea.
