Last night, drummer and frontman for The Roots, revealed his collaboration with Nike, the (h)Air ?uesto 1. Honestly, I’m not to sure how I feel about it (I have a similar reaction to the Air Yeezy, who’ pics keep floating around the internet). I think its great that he’s getting his own shoe, and I think its great that he actually had creative control… but someone maybe could have helped him out? Designing a nice sneaker colourway is surprisingly hard. And I guess it could be a lot worse. I can actually see a lot of people rocking this. Anyways, here’s the picture:

As you might notice, one of the shoes (the one on the top) is covered in gold. That’s because the release of this shoe is also a contest, and 25 lucky purchasers around the world will get the special “Golden Ticket” edition. No word yet on what the prize is for those lucky 25 (aside from an ultra-exclusive 1 of 25 in the world sneaker), but ?uesto says on his blog, “i cant make the ‘official’ announcement on what you will get if you are the lucky ones but lemme just say im gonna stand in line for my own damn shoe.” Hyperbole or not, sounds like those 25 are gonna be some lucky folks. The sneaker will be released on August 1st at select retailers (if you’re into sneakers, you probably know where to go), and ?uesto will be playing a few DJ gigs in order to promote the release:

aug5- i’ll be at UBIQ in philly
aug 7th I’ll be at Undefeated in LA
