DMV area MC/Producer Charlie Ross comes out of nowhere and drops this gem he recorded in 2007 in Okinawa, Japan. To be honest, this is the first I’ve heard of dude (that I can remember at least) but hopefully it won’t be the last. The project is presented by yU of Diamond District, which is a good cosign to have. Sonically, this is exactly the kind of music I love. Boombap with a spaced out electronic flair and a touch of jazz. The beats are some of the best I’ve heard in a long while. And his rhyming is pretty on point too. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS RELEASE. I’m serious, you will enjoy this. DC area hip hop is doing big things. Big shoutout to yU and Fresh Selects for this one.
