Spurred on by his noticeable absence from MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game list, Lupe has decided that he needs to actively cement his position as one of the greatest rappers of all time. If that means more dope Lupe, than I’m all for it. Phase one of the plan is a new mixtape. It dropped yesterday while I was eating lots of delicious octopus (that’s right, follow me on twitter if you feel like you’re missing out). Today, I’ve finally gotten to it and I have to say it’s exactly what I hoped it would be. Lupe drops lyrical bombs over some club banging instrumentals ranging from Slaughterhouse’s The One, to Lil’ Dwayne’s Fireman, to The Clipse’s recent Popular Demand. Track by track he tears shit down and builds it back up with his name on top. Lupe is a man on a mission, and he’s definitely not slacking. If you haven’t gotten the mixtape by now, then grab it NOW.
