Local Natives is officially one of my top groups to look out for in 2010. As they prep for their debut LP, Gorilla Manor (which is scheduled to drop February 16) they’ve gone ahead and unleashed their first official single, Sun Hands. The vocal harmonies are amazing. The drums take cues from afrobeat, but are toned down just enough to match the energy of the track. The guitar licks are bright and happy. Each element comes together to create a beautifully haunting tangle of sounds. Make sure you keep an eye out for Local Natives in the near future; they’re sure to make a big splash soon.
