Louis Armstrong was one of the most influential musicians of all time. Not only was he a virtuoso and innovator on the trumpet, but he also helped bring some jazz sensibilities to the mainstream through his acting and singing career. The Apple Juice Kid takes some of Armstrong’s most memorable tracks and subtly reworks them, updating them for modern sensibilities without compromising the integrity of the original works. The result is a timeless and refined sound that is unclassifiable. The project was commissioned by Batallion Armour after hearing AJK’s Miles Davis remix project (another must have). It’s intended to go along with visualizations that can be found here. They’re cool, but the music is good enough to stand alone if you so chose. So far, AJK is two for two in my book with his remixes of classic jazz masterpieces, and I sincerely hope he continues to tackle the challenge with more and more artists. This get’s the official VM stamp of approval.
