The Flaming Lips – Money (Pink Floyd Cover)
So last night I dove headfirst into this Flaming Lips cover of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon not knowing what to expect. What I found is an album that’s takes the incredible songwriting and production value of the original, but deconstructs it, making the music feel even more delicate and human. It’s a really incredibly well done cover of what is already one of the best records of all time. Check out what they did with the track Money just to get an idea of how they’ve turned the original on its head. It’s crazy how digital they can make the track, but how grounding the effect of whispered vocals are. Everything about this track (and the entire cover album) seems to have been meticulously planned out, with a calculated meaning behind each effect and technique. Make sure you pay close attention.
