Kidz in the Hall Interview (Part One)

About a week ago, Chicago/Philly rap duo Kidz in the Hall came through and performed at a little social on campus. If you haven’t already heard their most recent album “The In Crowd” definitely head out to your local CD store and buy it. Being one of the few people around who knew about them, [...]

New Common Song

Common just debuted a new song with Pharrell in Houston. The song, ‘There’s Nothing You Can Do’ should be on his upcoming album, retitled “Universal Mind Control.” I definitely like the new title of the album better. Invincible Summer was kind of wack.

Wale - Good Girl (live)

Wale is currently finishing up his debut album to be released later this year. If this is any indication of what’s to come… I’m excited. Good for him (DC up!). On another note, I need to get out and see Wale perform one of those days. His go-go influences make a live band performance sound [...]

Ratatat

Last night I got to go out and see Ratatat. I was blown away… not as much by the quality of the music, as the sheer volume. Those speakers went up to 11 for sure. And my ears are still ringing. Despite how ridiculously loud the show got, it was a very good show. I [...]

Gnarls Barkley’s New EP

Live from SoHo… it is just what the title implies. Its an EP’s worth of live recordings from their performance in the Apple store in SoHo. Its a little more stripped down than the studio versions, but its very nice to listen to.

01 Run (I’m a Natural Disaster)
02 Who’s Gonna Save My Soul
03 Surprise
04 Crazy
05 [...]

Gnarls Barkley X Hercules and Love Affair

Great show at the 930 club last night. Like, one of the best show’s I’ve been to in recent memory. While I’ve not listened to much of Hercules’ music, they’re a really fun group. The live show was really energetic, complete with two men on top of the speakers vogueing, several costume changes for the [...]

Autorock at the Rock and Roll Hotel

So, the other night was the first time I have ever been able to catch Autorock live and direct. And let me say, it is not an experience I shall soon forget. As I mentioned, the past few days have been packed with… well packing. And moving. And travelling. And missing flights. And waiting in [...]

STS9 - Peaceblaster

STS9 seems to have taken an interesting turn. I used to enjoy them for their mellow, jazzy compositions and how well that contrasted with the energy and passion of their live shows. Their new album, Peaceblaster, seems to have captured that raw energy and passion onto a recording. And I’m not sure how I feel [...]

THE ROOTS!

The other night I got to see The Legendary Roots Crew. It was amazing, having never seen them before. I definitely reccommend any fan of music to see them if you can.

The show was opened by local St. Louis band Illphonics. Illphonics is a band comprised of 2 guitars, a bassist, keyboard, drums and [...]

Vinyl Meltdown Gets Down and Dirty in DC

Last night, in[di]visible and I (plus one Korean import) were lucky enough to be able to go see DJ Tittsworth and pals throw down at the 930 club. Let me just say that energy was high, music was excellent, and the party was off the chain.
The event was a part of DJ Will Eastman’s Blisspop [...]
